The following is a brief list of additional detail-oriented services that I offer that don’t strictly fit well into any of the other categories. Instead, I gave them all a category of their very own.

During this service the vehicle is safely lifted off of the ground and the wheels are removed for improved access to both the wheel barrel and the wheel well. Most modern vehicles have some combination of plastic and a type of carpeting/sound deadening reminiscent of grey astro-turf. While the wheel is dismounted the well can be thoroughly cleaned with a degreaser and a tar remover, if necessary, then dressed to restore its original black appearance. The wheel barrel itself is also deep cleaned with a brake dust remover, rust stain remover and tar remover. While the wheel barrel is dry, a rubber eraser wheel is used to remove the residue left by any wheel balancing weight stickers. Finally, the tire is dressed and reapplied using the manufacturer’s specified torque for your vehicle.

Wheel Ceramic Application: $250

This is an addon to the wheel well deep clean that follows the same basic principles of the vehicle paint ceramic. The wheel must be removed and decontaminated, then polished to remove light scratches. The finished product is a set of wheels with high gloss, with dramatically improved resistance to the rigors of the road. Given the nature of wheel “spokes” polishing may need to be done manually or at the very least with a one- and two-inch polisher.

Headlight Restoration: $100

Over time, the factory-installed clear coat on your vehicle’s head lights will fully wear away leaving a dull or hazy appearance that not only looks unpleasant to the eye but can present a hazard to your personal safety, particularly if you drive in the evenings, nights and early mornings. This service uses multiple fine grits of sandpaper to erode the pitted and remaining clear away to the base layer allowing your detailer to polish this off and reapply a fresh layer of UV protection that will improve the way your vehicle looks from the front in addition to adding safety during low light driving situations.

Engine Bay Detail: $100

With very few exceptions, your engine bay is going to be open to the ground, exposing the inner workings of your vehicle to dirt, debris and water. Over time this builds up an unsightly layer of dust that cakes in all the baffles built into the injection molded plastics of your engine. An engine bay detail will directly address the soiling with a modest amount of degreasing to areas that shouldn’t have grease. The plastic and rubber components are then dressed to restore the rich, black shine of a like-new engine bay.

Long-term Exterior Trim Restoration: (starting at) $200

Restoration is a misnomer for this service. The fact is that injection molded plastics, when exposed to sunlight and various environmental conditions, will fade over time. Nothing will restore the original color because it’s often been sun-bleached away. A variety of short-term options are available to my clients at no cost as part of any exterior detail package, but longer-term solutions do exist. I can present to you, my client, with a trim restoration that will last up to six months and another option that includes a ceramic coating specifically engineered for exterior plastics. Application of either product can take 1 to 2 hours.

Interior Ceramic Coating: (starting at) $75

While we’re applying ceramic to every other surface of your vehicle, why bother leaving out the interior seating surfaces? Once the interior of your vehicle has been cleaned a dedicated saturating ceramic coating can be applied to your seats and carpets to inhibit future buildup and will aid in making cleanup a snap. Thorough application will add about an hour to your interior detail times and will take approximately thirty minutes to fully cure. Durability on less-frequently used seats will be about eighteen months with the driver’s seat lasting about 12 months.

According to multiple sources and automotive industry insiders a clean vehicle that doesn’t smell like six-week old donuts and bad intentions is much more likely to sell faster and for a higher price. You’ll be allowing your potential buyers to set their imaginations on hold because they won’t have to see past the dirt to see a vehicle’s potential. This procedure can go from fairly painless to absolutely nuts depending on the size of the vehicle and what all you’d like to do to put your best foot forward either in a trade-in situation or an outright private party sale. The techniques and tools used can most closely be compared to my Tier 1 exterior and interior details. Roll the cost of this detail into your asking price if you’re looking to move the vehicle quickly or leverage the vehicle’s cleanliness during negotiation to boost your profits. Either way you’re going to win. https://www.blackcarnews.com/article/clean-cars-sell-for-more
